two-wheeled mail delivery is being phased out. I had no idea there even was such a thing!

Good article. I actually remember our mailman delivering our mail on his three wheeled bike when I was a kid in Florida. He had a big box or trunk on the back between the wheels and wore one of those old fashioned safari type helmets. He was such a friendly fellow, and even our dog liked him! We could hear him whistling as he came down the street. I hadn't thought about that for years.

Was it on this forum that someone wrote in asking about bike shorts. I am sure she delivered mail and was having issues because the bikes are standard issue and so the fit might not have been perfect and she wanted to try bike shorts under her uniform? Does that ring a bell?
Anyways that is how I knew they used bikes to deliver mail in the UK.

Yes, I remember that too. Though I thought the question was about getting a new saddle, but you're right, she was stuck with a standard saddle and trying to make it work.

Mail delivery by bike is common in Europe. I take photos of mail bikes whenever I travel. Kinda my geeky thing, along with cargo bikes before they became hip and trendy over here. Mail by bike makes so much sense in cities.

Not at the moment. I'm a Luddite when it comes to digital stuff like photos. I have thousands but have no idea what to do with them. I have an inactive blog about bicycling in my city and beyond, but I've been thinking of reviving it and adding a section for my utility bike photos. I almost did that this weekend, but I got distracted by rearranging furniture instead....I'm a productive procrastinator!

You might be just the push I need. I'll keep you posted.
