Of all world's holidays, Chanukah is about my favorite.
It is unpretentious; lighting lights in a dark season is a great idea; it starts with one little light and by the end it can be a downright fire hazard; there's good food and a little gambling. All these things make a good celebration.
But the message is tip top: when you need a miracle you've got to step up and do something. If you take a look at the oil, and say "Well, no. That's not gonna work" and then go home there's no miracle. If you want a miracle, you've got to light the fire.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
