Took it out to the local regional park - all fire roads, lots of steep climbing and descents. LOVE IT! We have this black, hard soil that gets really big cracks in it. It's like riding through a rock garden. The bike just floated over it. It shifts beautifully, even under stress. I saw a coyote, maybe two, or the same one twice. And something that looked like a black squirrel. I need to find out what other kind of critter it might have been. There were also a couple of egrets at the reservoir.

Thom ordered it with a dropper seatpost for me. I forgot to play with it today. Seriously, I was just enjoying the ride so much.

    Droooool.

(Local populations of black squirrels aren't terribly uncommon, are you sure it wasn't a squirrel you saw? There are lots of them in an area near me, but they stay in maybe a 2-3 mile radius. But it could've been something in the weasel family, too.)

I'm not positive it was a squirrel. It was squirrel sized, but I was going downhill and it was running off the trail... It was definitely black and different from all the other squirrels I saw.

I feel like that first photo should be accompanied by "Also Sprach Zarathustra."

    It's beautiful.

Whoa, that bike is hot. I'm so glad you love it. Did you happen to weigh it? I love my Santa Cruz, but light it is not.

26.75 pounds. It's about a pound heavier than my aluminium hardtail.
