I agree that an hour isn't long enough. Look at some of the bright LED lights. Serfas makes a terrific LED light, the "ultrabright". It is very small, and I don't know if it has a helmet mount but it would be the perfect weight for a helmet. I've used this light when I started any of my double centuries before sunrise, and it was perfect.
