    Happy Trust fund to me....

I received notice that my ex-husbands Aunt Sonny died and left a trust to both me and my son, although I've been divorced from my husband for 30+ years AND he died (at the age of 38) in 1989. I had never met this Aunt, but my she was my ex-FIL's sister and I stayed close to him until he died. So...out of the blue I received this money. Soooooo....what to do? First, I went out and bought my first new bike in 18 years. I've been riding my Specialized Hardrock (1997) and my Specialized Dolce (2005) forever and love both of them.....but, being open minded I went out today and test road several different road bikes, but, for my size (about 5'1" when I stretch) and my longer than normal leg length, I ended up with...another Specialized, but a Ruby Elite this time.

I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. I needed them to do a few adjustments to it, and I actually went up in Frame size which surprised me. But it feels soooo good! Plus, I think the hand issue I've had pretty much forever might be alleviated with the larger (50) frame and the carbon frame.

    I'm very excited!!!!!

P.S. I'm giving my Specialized Hardrock which I've converted to a commuter bike to my best friend hoping to convert her to cycling

Yeah, I already love the bike! Since I'm self-employed, none of the rest of the money will go for anything fun. I'm having a root canal tomorrow and sometime in the future need a bunionectomy and another colonoscopy. Do I know how to have fun or what!!!!????

    Sweet!
I'm sure Auntie is happy that you are spending some of the $$ on something fun.
Who wants to be remembered with a root canal?!

Very cool story! I love my Ruby and I hope you love yours too. I'm 5'1" and my 44 cm fits me wonderfully!

My other Specialized (Dolce) was a 44cm and I was happy with it's fit until I tried the 50cm and REALLY love it's fit. Even though we're both 5'1" our bodies are probably very different, huh? I had my seat all the way back and had to alter the handlebars on the Dolce which should of been an indictor that maybe it wasn't the best fit for me. Also, because I was in such an aggressive position on that bike, my already bad hand issues got worse. I'm hoping that won't be the case on my new bike.

You guessed it. I have really, really short legs and a long torso. I am thinking of raising the handle bars the tiniest bit because my neck sometimes gets sore.
