I throw all of my cycling gear into the wash, AND into the dryer . I have been doing this for years, and my shorts last just as long as friends who hang to dry. Also, even if you are a beginner, bibs are WAY MORE comfortable than shorts IMO. No binding at the waist, and for those of us who are long-waisted, no sunburn on the small of the back from the jersey riding too high . Yes, bathroom stops can be an ordeal, but it's really not THAT difficult.
