Wonderful bike! I ride with two ladies who have the same bike and they are equally pleased with theirs. Congratulations and many happy miles!

Thanks everyone! It's nice to be able to share my excitement with people who understand!

I've been on 3 rides so far, and my issues have entirely been with my out-of-shapedness. No saddle soreness, no neck or shoulder issues, nothing.

I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with my feet. I started reading the pedal threads and Irulan's link to the flat pedal manifesto, and I hit brain overload. I'm having a bit of a hard time sorting between road and mountain bike info (and wondering if it matters between the two). There's so much info here on the forum already, I'm pretty sure my answer is buried in here somewhere, I just need to be patient and keep looking!

And on a totally first-world-problems note, I smacked myself on the forehead for buying a second waterbottle with red on it. It completely clashes with my bike, but I can't bring myself to buy another set in a more complimentary color. The silly things that bug me.

Don't worry about the pedals for right now. Just have fun.

(And I hear you on the water bottles. I'm tempted to get a set to go with my CX bike, but can't quite bring myself to do it.)
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I wouldn't worry about it, but my feet have slipped off everytime I've ridden so far. It feels really clumsy. I'm considering just getting partial cages (or whatever they are called) just to keep my foot from sliding off. It happens after I stop on the side of the trail and step in the fine dirt.

Ah, slippery flats. The flats that came with my road bike had teeth, but every bike I've tested has had those slippery ones and they drive me nuts.

You could get cages, provided that the body of the pedal is metal. Or you could get PowerGrips (I think that's what they're called), or a set of BMX pedals (but watch out for your shins!), or metal flats that will let you add cages.

Thanks, Owlie. My pedals are plastic. I was wondering if I'd have to change them, thanks for clarifying.

Lol, to me it's very important that my bottles don't clash with my bike, AND that both of them match. Silly, I know, but I'm a female - what can I say? I care about how things look, which is why I have so many darn (nice looking) jerseys...
