I alm almost 60 and I only wear pantyhose if I am going to a super dressy thing in the fall or winter and I'm wearing a "party dress." Preferrably black only. Otherwise, I wear tights, as any dress or skirt I wear to work is OK with tights. When it gets a bit warmer (my legs are freezing until it's about 65), I wear patterned tights, with some "air" going in between the patterns.
Pantyhose scream old person and I refuse to be one.
For a wedding, if it's small and intimate, I wouldn't bother.
