Haven't thrown away cycling jerseys

Worn out- only have thrown away shorts due to stitching coming undone (beyond getting repaired), holes, or the fabric wearing through. Socks due to unravelling and colour going weird and gloves when they get hard and nappy.

Hope I don't need to christen a jersey with a bike accident. Was it bad, Kiwi?

Yes, sure. My shorts, gloves and socks don't last very long. I'm lucky that a pr. of shorts lasts for 2 years if I wear them a lot during the months. I rotate my gloves...meaning 1 usually have a crappier short gloves for rainy, warm weather...that will get thrown out by end of season. Same for long, light fingered gloves.

Probably verging on a jersey s.l.u.t. But I have to stop. I also store a few in another city, so I seriously fly between 2 cities with very little cycling clothing. I have to say though, overall, my jerseys are tough babies so far!

I have far too many jerseys. I've sold one because it was too big, but I keep acquiring more, which is stupid, because if anything, I need more shorts! I should probably repair the one that needs repairing and start culling the herd. I have a few long-sleeve ones that I seldom wear, for a start...

There's a Primal jersey I want because it matches my road bike (teal--hard to come by!), and I do want one or two cheap ones that I'm okay with trashing for off-road riding, though...

Yeah pretty bad. Was 5 years ago. Went over my handlebars and (I think) landed on my elbow, smashing my shoulder joint into lots of pieces. The accident also tore through the material of the jersey as well as those scissors, so it was pretty much toast!

I generally clean out my jersey drawer every spring. I have quite a few I don't wear too often, but they are in good shape, so I keep them. What I have found is that I have a short window of wearing short sleeved jerseys; I go from long sleeved to sleeveless it seems, overnight. The ones I've thrown out have been for reasons of fit, itchy seams, or they rode up. Also, when I first started riding, I had some jerseys that were just cheap and ugly. I wore them to death, but as the years went on, women's jerseys became better made/stylish.
I have quite a few full zip jerseys.
Not sure if I qualify as a jersey "****." I usually buy one new one a year. That is one new short sleeved, one new sleeveless, and sometimes a long sleeved. My DH sometimes buys me a jersey unbeknownst to me, too.

I kept all of my cycling gear when I took a break from riding and when I broke that stuff out, it was like Christmas all over again! I was able to wear some of the shorts and bibs and now I can wear all of it. I still like the stuff I bought last year, but I won't be buying a lot of new stuff now that the "old" stuff fits again. Next year... can't guarantee that I won't do some sGood cycling jerseys can last a really long time. Shorts not so much, but with proper care... yep, I can believe 15 years and counting for a jersey. And good for you that you haven't changed sizes in those years. I can't say the same for myself (but I wasn't riding those years I was heavier). I only wear long-sleeved and short-sleeved. No sleeveless and I'm not sure why.

Kiwi - that sounds very painful. What a horrible experience. It must have taken a while to recover. Yikes!

I have not thrown out a single jersey, even the one with a lot of white in the foreground with some noticeable dirt stains. And I just added to my collection by buying 2 more. Now if our weather will ever cooperate so I could actually get outside and ride!

I don't want full front zip for my jerseys. I don't like the sensation of zipper accidentally rubbing against my stomach. Nor is it complimentary on me. I'm small framed anyway. It doesn't do anything.

Where I've been living for the past 12 years in Canada, I don't feel much need for sleeveless jerseys. Summers don't get super hot/humid like Ontario.

I like classic, durable sports clothing. Yay!! I have about 10 jerseys --that should be enough.
