Beautiful, but the brakes don't look very safe to me ... too hard to reach and too easy for your hands to slip off, I'd think.

Isn't Ascari the ridiculously expensive car manufacturer? Geez - wonder what the price tag on that mixte is! Pretty, but I'd guess it's pretty dear, as well.

ETA: OK - did a google search... looks like they are not the same as the car manufacturer.

Catrin, do you mean the frameset/headset is 1.75 more than your complet build?
I didn't calculate it properly, the frame/fork/stem alone is 142%, and the complete build cost is 228% the cost of my complete 1-off build!!!! I would be afraid to ride the thing and get it scratched I am finicky enough about my Gunnar, but I am not afraid to ride it!

    No kidding!
It would be like pedaling around on the Mona Lisa, slapping a lock around Michelangelo's David's ankle, splattering mud all over Vincent's sunflowers! *shudder*

ouch pricey but the Giles Berthoud bags shown on the photo are close to $1,000.
I am very fortunate to have a Giles Berthoud front bag that will be going in my will someday... Love it
