    I've never used a chain tool that didn't take some force. But you could put it in a vise and turn the whateverit'scalled [they say nouns are the first thing to go ] with a pair of pliers, or put a small piece of pipe over it for more leverage the way you would with a pedal wrench.


    ETA: Park Tool just calls it the handle. I could swear there's another name for it.
