    Happy Passover, Crankin!

It looks like a cheese grater is a less expensive option, so I may go with that. A julienne peeler will also work but I think the grater is probably quicker - and certainly easier to find at a local store.

I've already posted most of yesterday, outside of dinner. I had the last of my home-seasoned Italian sausage/ground pork and scrambled it with veggies and 2 eggs. I was HUNGRY and unwilling to wait for more dinner-like preparations.

Crankin - while I don't bloat/hold water near as much as before moving to Paleo, I still hold some fluids the day after an intense workout. Is it possible the weight gain you've noted could simply be that? I know this is frustrating to you. My trainer changed my Tuesday session this week to Thursday so I have an unexpected rest day I was going to go in anyway, but decided after the last two days that my body would appreciate a rest. (So I go into the office an hour early - sheesh)

    Tuesday

B: blueberry sausage, hot apple jicama mash with strawberries, black coffee
L: leftover chicken and veggie stir fry, mixed berries
S: (if needed, I didn't need yesterday's snack so perhaps I won't today as well) hard boiled egg, clementines
D: beef roast cooked in the slow cooker - not sure what I'll serve it with. Maybe with roasted asparagus and some cauliflower mash?

1 hr of mat Pilates tonight

Catrin, it's possible, but I don't like this pattern. Today is a rest day, but another Passover Seder tonight, so my eating is not exactly normal. I will be riding more, as the snow has disappeared, so who knows.

Re: What did you eat today?

I hear you Crankin! That is frustrating for sure.

I weighed 125.7 this morning, my workout schedule for the rest of the week is a bit different as far as timing is concerned, I might take that but we will see. I prefer to have a rest day before weighing in but I may not be able to do that.

Or, you guys could just stop weighing yourselves.

I don't know if I'm up or down a couple of pounds because I no longer step on a scale, ever. Life is WAY better without it! (I use my skinny clothes to gauge how I'm doing).

I know ... it is so hard to do that! It really is one of the few things I've not set aside in my efforts to adopt a more Paleo/primal lifestyle. I think part of me is afraid that if I stop watching the scales those almost 100 pounds I've worked so hard to lose will start running back. The ironic part is I KNOW other things are going on with my body that the scales can't measure. I've dropped more sizes since July than my loss of 9-10 pounds explains - it is about far more than numbers on a scale.

Hi! My name is Catherine and I am addicted to the scales...

When I stop weighing myself, my weight goes up. Believe me, this has happened a few times. I do go by the fit of my pants and some of them are a bit tight. At first I thought it was because I had just washed my jeans, but it's all my jeans and pants. Of course my huge cycling calves and quads don't help here. I like those things, but when the hips of my pants get tight, that is a cue.
I bought new black ankle length pants in the smaller of the 2 sizes I wear, because the reviews said they stretch out (this brand does). They are really tight, but I am wearing them now to remind myself not to over eat tonight.

I am now making a conscious effort to stop snacking. It's just mindless eating and it's a bad habit.

    Today
B: chicken apple sausage, hot jicama mash, 1/2 banana, tea
    S: (sort of) black coffee
L: left over beef roast, pile of steamed mix veggies drizzled with olive oil and spices
D: beef marinara sauce over spaghetti squash, green salad w/ avocado

Skipped posting yesterday, let's just say it involved a lot of tasting and then eating another Passover dinner
    Today:
B: one piece of gefilte fish with horseradish, half a piece of matzah with veggie cream cheese, an orange, coffee
S: 2 dried apricots, 4 oz. almond milk
12 mile ride, hilly, a little faster than Sunday, but painful. I kept thinking I might have to start leading "beginner" rides.
L: egg whites, 4 slices of ham, sprinkle of cheddar, blueberries
    S: walnuts and dried cranberries
D: I took one of my 11 year old clients out to celebrate his "graduation." I had a cup of tomato basil soup, that looked suspiciously creamy. I had to watch the kid eat buffalo chicken tenders and potato skins. When I got home, I made a chicken salad with the left over chicken from the holiday, almonds, grape tomatoes. 2 squares dark chocolate

half a glass of almond milk and a handful of walnuts before boot camp, which turned out to be half an hour of kick boxing and half an hour of core work
B: 2 eggs over easy, 2 slices uncured bacon, 1/4 avocado, coffee, an orange
L: chicken salad with almonds and dried cranberries, an apple, about anhour later nuts, cranberries, chocolate bits
    S: hard boiled egg
D: spinach salad with roasted beets, scallops, orange slices, vinaigrette, glass of red wine, 2 squares dark chocolate
