Re: what a difference a day mkes

You are awesome! I never thought Houston was windy until I started road riding. Now I've decided it starts every time I get on the bike.

Marni, I think you did great! Not only did you do all of those miles at a quite respectable speed (I would be quite proud of that myself), but it isn't even April yet! You will have fun on the Little Red Riding Hood ride - great name that

Marni - Did you notice the wind is never at our backs either

You just made me feel soooo much better about my own riding. I've been struggling with my speed, but have really been working on adding hills (is 3.8 mph on a hill slow????). My average keeps going down, not up! From the 14s, then the 13s. Last ride down to the upper 12s! I was really hoping it would go up, not down.

You are one of my "Biking Heros", so I'm proud to be riding in the same speed zone as you!

I read about those girls riding 18 - 20 avg. Really! That is just never gonna happen for me!

Keep up the good work! Together we will both be ready for our big rides. Well, I will if it quits raining around here.

I about died of shock when I actually had a bit of wind at my back briefly on my ride in the 15-20 mph winds yesterday. Just about the time I realized I was trudging, I change direction and there it was the "giant invisible cosmic fan which blows in the face" back again.

As forriding slow up a hill- my slowest was 2.5 mph up Emerson Pass in New Mexico- actually got down to 2.4 mph but then fell over so I forced myself to speed up a bit, but 2.5 was the best I could do.

I don't have a lot of hills around here (houston) but I consider the wind as equivalent training.

Thank you for your comments not only you but all the other ladies as well.

For those of you who don't know the little red riding hood ride, it is a women only ride in northern Utah wherein the sag guys all dress up in some sort of a wolf themed costume. This years theme is Little Red goes Bollywood so it should be good fun. Double fun for me to be with my three sisters, one older and two younger as well. the total of our ages is 247- you do th emath.
