Hello! Yes, went to both the Women's Bike Forum and the National Bike Summit. It was informative and inspiring to be among so many passionate bicycle advocates, planners, writers, and innovators. Black Women Bike DC is one of the most inspiring tales of how one person doing what she does (ride a bike to get around town) can be inspired by a little girl to go out and change the world and connect with so many other like-minded people.
The theme was the business of bicycling; the economic power of being bicycle friendly is well-documented and recognized by the business community. Jeanette Sadik-Khan presented a powerful and inspiring vision of the changes in NYC. There were also several sessions on bicycling and non-car mobility in a broader context (health, quality of life, and affordable housing), which I found particularly relevant to the work that I do. A bold and innovative organization out of Dallas called Build A Better Block that puts community change back in the hands of the community by staging what's possible, which often leads to permanent improvements.
And I really enjoyed reconnecting with people I met at a similar conference last fall in California (different conference but lots of overlap) and meeting other people for the first time.
I also got to ride my bike on some of DC's new bike lanes, including the L Street lane. Really fun, even (especially) in traffic!
