My better half and I went into a bike shop yesterday so that I could spend my Christmas gift card and we saw some Surley Moonlanders on display, as well as one Pugsley. One of the Moonlanders was the personal bike of one of the shop clerks and he was extremely enthusiastic about it, urging us both to take it out for a spin - his own personal bike! Now that's an endorsement. I didn't ride far enough to get a real feel for it as the saddle was too low, but it felt like it was floating.
Now we're seriously considering getting a couple of them. I've never been madly in love with my commuter bike (although I like the internal gears) so maybe this is something I could have instead, using the touring bike for summer commuting. Living in a province with few paved roads, these bikes could greatly increase the number of riding routes available to us. I can picture us exploring gravel grid roads on them in the summer and going for city rides on the pathway system in winter.
