Your Cat and the drug Convenia

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Our cats have been sick with colds, and two ended up at the vet. One got clavamox, the other an injectable called Convenia.

I won't say any more than this. Educate yourself about Convenia. Please pray for our Koala and that she will be ok. She still has a cold and is eating great. She is the one that got Convenia.

So, sorry. I hope your cat will be ok. I thought Convenia was for skin problems...anyway, I will keep your kitty in my thoughts. Ask your vets about homeopathic remedies if possible. That's my first line of defense.

Not something anyone wants to hear. Keeping your kitty and you in my thought. So frustrating to see them suffer. For what its worth, these days, I prefer to use drugs that has been on the market for at least 5 years or more. Some say 10 years. By then we have better visibility to the side effect and long term effect.

did search and read about the drugs. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I hope she keeps eating and drinking and recover from the side effects. Let us know when she pulls through.

    sincerely,

It's been over 6 days, and my partner who is a pharmacist, says that 50% of Convenia is out of her system. We are super relieved that nothing happened. Based on all of the horror stories on the internet, we got very lucky.

By the way, Convenia is used in both dogs and cats. It is put out by Pfizer. I strongly suspect, with a vet named Lisa very actively protesting against this drug, that it will eventually get pulled from the market.

Thank you all for thoughts and prayers. Our little Koala (in my avatar), is on the mend. Her cold is gone, and her eye infection is almost all better.

I'm glad the news is good. It is sometimes hard to make choices about medical care for pets. Keeping a good thought for Koala (and family).
