hmmm... I don't know on the Chamois Butt'R but haven't had any issues using it for the 9 centuries I've done...
as to the detergent... I use Woolite for my cycling stuff and no softener... then line dry... seems to work for me...

There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
You're sensitive to detergent smells and you use TIDE?!![]()
Most people I know, myself included, who are sensitive to detergents can't touch Tide with a 10-foot pole. I can always smell people who use Tide, too (officemates, walking past someone on the street, etc). I usually use All Free & Clear.
As for chamois butter, I think Assos is the main cycling specific brand that offers anti-fungal benefits. However, lots of folks like to use A&D diaper ointments and others like Bag Balm, both of which also have anti-microbial qualities.
I have used Tide for so long - I can only use the one with Bleach added. I know it's weird, but I definitely can't change. I do not have difficulty with the detergent - just the smell. I've used the same brand deoderant, shampoo, and soap forever it seems also. I can't do perfumes - actually will move in church. My husband doesn't do colognes either. I also never will use the free samples in the hotels. I would prefer not to use a laundry sheet, but my husband grew up with them. He doesn't like the static feel so we only buy Bounce Free.
I used to listen to my mother complain about odors; however, as I get older it does seem to slowly get worse. Unfortunately, one of my three sons is showing the same sensitivity.![]()
Thanks for the answers with the chamois butter.
I use Udderly Smooth, which is easy to get at Wal Mart. I like it better than Chamois Buttr because it seems to last longer despite lots of sweating.
I can't use Tide or Cheer due to strong scent and it really irritates sensitive skin.
I use a detergent from a market here called trader joe's. Te smell is very herbal. And I also us a sent free detergent.
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.
