You, Veronica and I are all getting a severe case of the whines. Bubba is adding his basso profundo from Monterey.

Yeah, that red rock country definitely turns to goo. If it starts to rain very hard, the support truck will get mired. If we're on a road, they'll pull up along side and give you 2 options: get in the truck NOW or guarantee that you'll make it to camp under your own power.

Thanks, everyone, for your support. The Wonder Poodle did a good job last night of loudly snoring in a comforting sort of way. Funny how you get so used to certain sounds that if they are missing can disrupt your sleep. Just in a wait and see mode now.

    Update from phone calls:

SIL is resting comfortably and on good drugs. Expects to be home Saturday.

Dad has an echo cardiogram s'afternoon. Mom is trying to get a chest x-ray, blood panel and doppler scheduled ASAP. I'm hoping we start to get some news going out of phone range on Tuesday. Since the doc didn't admit him I'm just going with the positive thought that this is chronic not acute.

I haven't bought fancy-schmancy ice cream in forever. Is there one to recommend that has chocolate and caramel? Might have to get 2 flavors in case Chunky Monkey just doesn't work tonight. Yeah, I know, hard to imagine but I like to be prepared.

Well, you should get some information on your dad soon, I would think. With what you had described earlier, chronic sounded right. Hope it is not serious.

As a backup I would suggest New York Super Fudge Chunk or Phish Food. But I am one of those who likes "stuff" in my ice cream. DH does not - he likes plain coffee or vanilla with no "stuff". I like the "stuff" best of all. We try not to buy ice cream at all though!

    Parents and SIL

SadieKate- Hope everything is okay with your dad, but it doesn't sound very promising with your description of his health and age. This must be especially hard for you given your commitments in life to exercise and good health.

Please keep us up to date on his status. I would think you will hear something before you leave next week.

Glad to hear your SIL is better. Good that they caught it right away.

Hopefully you will have some sun out there in "red rock" country!

Phish Food Phish Food - I used to eat that by the carton!!!!

SK: glad to hear your SILs doing better, keeping your father in my prayers. When my dad was here recently for his annual visit he looked so fragile. I cherish every moment I spend with him!

As for the blue stuff? It's called the "sky" and we have it Plenty here in New Mexico - along with awesome temps in the 70s. Can I send some to anyone??
Although - darn - today seems to be partly cloudy so I have this fluffy white stuff messing up my pretty blue sky!

On a serious note: my prayers go out to anyone and everyone that has been affected by the crazy weather: tornadoes in the Midwest, floods in CA, snow everywhere else. Here's hoping all my far-flung friends (try saying That 3x real fast) are safe and well.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

    N. TX was gray...

and sprinkling this morning but is clearing up nicely now. We've actually been having "severe clear" for a few days now. We are 12 inches or so behind in rainfall and really would like to see more, so send it our way.

I've been "riding" my bike on the trainer with the garage door open to get the knee well enough a month after the scope to start some real riding. I see the orthopedist next week so maybe he'll release me. There is still a little swelling but that is mostly gone. The locking up is gone. Amazing what they can do with the scopes these days.

SadiKatie, I hope things go well for your dad. It takes time to do all the testing and pool all the data together. I'll keep him in my prayers, and your mom and you too.

PS. Actually Blue Bell and Braums here in TX make some of the best sugar free ice cream and frozen yogurt I've ever had. Braums has a chocolate chunk cappoccino that is out of this world and it's sugar free!! OK, now I'm going to have to go get some.

    Blue Bell

I could have an organism over Blue Bell's Caramel Pecan Fudge full blown, full fledged, creamy ice cream! They don't make it any more but years ago, they did and I probably ate my weight in the stuff. Any flavor of Blue Bell is wonderful and they will ship 4 1/2 gals anywhere in the USA for 89$.

SadieKate, sorry to read about your dad but keep hope. My dad had those problems for years off and on. Doctors can do an awful lot these days.

Speaking of blue, we've had blue skies off and on this week. The yellow ball was so bright the shades came out and tripped over a 1/2 gal of Blue Bell Pecan's N Pralines. OK, there was no ice cream. Darn!
