The fork on my new El Mariachi 29er can be set at 80 or 100mm. We reduced it down to 80, since I don't actually *need* 100mm on our terrain. I had decent standover with 100, but it's even better at 80.

    Nice bike. So shiny!

It sounds like I would win some by reducing my fork also But I need to ride the bike a bunch of times before deciding I think. The El Mariachi is a very nice bike

It's not the custom version. We bought it from UK. It's a 15" from 2010 and we got the last one It was on sale and the price was under 300 dollars for the frame

Nice -- lucky you! I did a quick google search and didn't see any for sale immediately so wondered if it was a discontinued model. Did not notice you were located "across the pond".

    Enjoy the Lobster!

I rode mine a few times at 100mm and haven't really noticed any difference in feel/handling since it was dropped (I don't think I'm using all the travel, as is. I need to put a cable-tie on a stanchion tube to see what I'm fully using). It makes me a bit less upright, which is good. I have relatively short legs and like to be less upright. I feel more stable, that way.
