And try a different combination of pain meds - ask for a different script if you've got prescription meds.

That really is rotten luck, I'm so sorry. You are still part of that team, you've earned it, so try to celebrate their ride even as you mourn the loss of your opportunity (and it is a kind of mourning). Then find another ride to to plan for as soon as possible!
