I've only been riding for about 3 years, but in that time I've had 2 road bikes, 1 CX bike, 1 mountain bike, and have a new mountain bike on the way. If money were no object I'd have a fat bike, too.

First road bike I sold to a friend after a year of riding it. Current mtn bike will go to my kid.

Speaking of the kid, in the past 2 years we purchased a tandem so that he could ride with us (behind his dad) and he also has a CX bike. DH has also purchased in recent years a fat bike and a new CX bike. So in 3 years time our household's bike collection has grown by almost 9 bikes and only 1 bike has left our stable.

    Since 2000 I have had:
a mountain bike modified a bit for the road (DS now has it somewhere. he used to commute on it). This used to be DH's hard tail
3 road bikes prior to the ones I have now. 2 were traded in/sold with a 4 year period. One was too big and the LBS took the frame back after 2 years and gave me a smaller frame where we transferred all of the components over
a flat bar road bike/hybrid (Jamis Coda) which I sold last fall
A FS Norco mountain bike sold last fall. I liked the idea of mountain biking, but never got very good at it
I now have a carbon Kuota road bike with more aggressive geometry and a Guru custom titanium road bike with more relaxed geometry, a rack, and couplers for taking apart/travel

My next purchase will be an around town bike for errands/coffee runs, but that won't be for awhile. Until I move to a flatter part of town.
DH has a carbon and ti road bike. Before that, he had an alu and other carbon road bike in addition to the 2 mountain bikes
DS #1 has the hand me down mountain bike, a single speed Redline commuter, and DS#2's steel Serotta road bike
DS #2 had a hard tail mountain bike, a cross bike (DH built that one), and 3 road bikes between ages 13-19. He now has an older Trek road bike he bought second hand

I passed the bug to my husband, son, daughter in-law, her good friend and probably more that I don't know of. My daughter and son in-law caught a milder case of it. We wash our hands, yet the bug seems totally resistant!! I hope it takes over the world.

Looks like we didn't get it nearly as bad as others here though. The Karens were hit hard and hit fast!!!!! Could be worse.

Hmm. I only have one road bike and a 18 year old mountain bike. Does this mean I need more?

I'm happy to say that I've spread this disease around. I have gotten my husband, my neighbor, my neighbor's wife, my co-worker and her family, and 6 other friends to buy bikes and start biking in the past 6 months.

Now, if only I could control the n+1 bike ownership part of the disease....

DH and I find that winter is the worst time of the year for our bike addiction. If we can't ride, we spend way to much time looking at CL or manufacturer's web sites. Here's hoping for a mild winter!!!!

Only thing keeping me from getting more bikes is I have nowhere to store anymore. I've contemplated renting a garage I saw for rent across the street from me for storage and bike workshop but that's a crazy $350/mo that could be saved for more bike upgrades/bike-related stuff/pilates,etc. I'll know when I'm done for when I move out to the suburbs for the bikes....

    Hi Deb!

We have my full custom steel Mondonico road bike, Motobecane freewheel mixte, and commutermobile GT.

Knott has her beautiful gold Waterford Cross (bought used right here on TE ), her own mixte, a Surly crosscheck (which is just the frame right now), she's getting the Kona back which was loaned to a friend. Her Mom's thinking of giving her the Dahon (also bought right here on TE, you enablers, you) now that Mom has an Electra Townie and likes it better.

And two dogs in an apartment.

Heh, I'm still riding the same bike I bought in 2009, but I'm eyeing a few additions: Carbon roadie, a steel CX bike, and a 29er. Sometime in the future, I'd like a steel road bike (in British racing green) and something that is truly a commuter bike.

Hi, my name is Helen and I've been addicted to buying bikes for around 4 years.

My first foray back into the world of cycling was a Fuji hybrid - I used that for a women's re-introduction to cycling course but decided it needed to be upgraded when we did a week-end 150 km ride.

My partner had in the meantime talked me into buying a second hand Specialized Dolce aluminium road bike but I didn't feel confident on the drop bars.

I then bought a lighter flat bar road bike but also had the Dolce properly fitted and hey presto, my confidence improved almost immediately.

Before long I wanted a carbon road bike but alas made a mistake. I bought a Specialized Amira which was slightly too big and therefore caused lower back pain. I've been to an expert fitter and nothing can be done. So that was my excuse to buy an endurance carbon road bike - a Cannondale Synapse that I am seriously in love with.

In a couple of weeks I am buying a mountain bike - not for serious single track but for riding on fire trails in the mountains where we have a ski lodge. Going to go with a Trek 29er - either the Mamba or Cali S.

Surely then I will be complete. There can't possibly be any other bike to lust over

surely, not....I thought that two bikes ago, but now am lusting over a mini velo road bike that I can't for the life of me get over here in the U.S. It's going to require a trip to Japan or Singapore to acquire. Oy.
