My favorite socks are Teko merino, though I've only worn their runners, not hikers. They do make a liner in black that looks like it can be worn alone.

Teko fan also. They're my favorite wet wading sock even. I can spend the entire day in wet socks, tromping miles up and down the stream, and still have happy (though pruny) feet.

I love the Teko socks! For one pair of my hiking boots, these work great. REI stopped carrying them. I will have to try their running socks.
