    Another misplaced mail thread

So I returned home from vacation to find a package on my doorstep. I didn't remember ordering anything and was puzzled until I saw it - it was addressed to the (presumed) new daughter of the folks who used to live at my house. Anyway. I've stopped puzzling over how you can be close enough to find out about a new child but not close enough to know that your friends moved 3 years ago...and started puzzling over what to do with the box. I don't think it was USPS, so I don't think my usual No Such Person - Return to Sender will work. Do I call the shipping company and inquire? Google-stalk the old owners until I can determine their new address and then pay to re-ship the box? Google-stalk the box senders? Auction the box's contents on ebay? Thanks for advice/insight!

If it's a major carrier (fed ex, ups), they should return it to sender. I don't think you're responsible for re-shipping to them, and I wouldn't auction. Just return it to the carrier and let them deal with it.

As far as the bad address, they might have had it saved in an address book somewhere and just not looked at it.

There's also some kind of identity theft scam that involves shipping packages to people. I forget how it works now, but there was a rash of them in central Florida over the summer. So yeah, call the shipper.

Haha, I wasn't seriously going to auction it off on ebay Thanks for the info though. I think it was UPS - I will give them a call tomorrow.
