Cycle the Wave - Ride Report/Women Only Rides?

So this was the first year I did this ride, after signing up last year and whimping out because of weather. The weather could not have been more perfect this year. I did the "Middle Sister" which was 42 miles. What a fabulous ride, and so many extra little fun touches along the route, so many volunteers (the cheerleaders! the firemen!!) encouraging us along the way. And absolutely the most fabulous finish line festival I have EVER SEEN. And we've done a lot of organized rides. The food was great, and so many merchants turned out...oh, and free chair massages. I just can't say enough about how great it all was. And for such a good cause: supporting domestic violence programs and awareness.

Oh, and the ride itself was pretty darn good. Hilly, but not too much...scenic, not too much traffic anywhere really.

I was wondering how many other women only rides there might be around the country and if they offer this kind of support and encouragment.

This is the ride that got me interested in riding. Women's only ride, but support a local cancer support group and LAF. A wonderful ride, with weekly training rides in the spring and summer.

I did the Cycle the Wave also. I did the Girly Girl (25 miles). It was great. The hills were not too much and the encouragement along the way not just from the cheerleaders, volunteers, and firemen/police, but also from the other women riding was wonderful. The weather was as close to perfect as possible.

I'm so glad you had a great ride TrekDianna! I agree, I felt nothing but good vibes from all the other riders...so many cheerful waves and shouts of encouragement...and the weather... ahhhhh...

I've done Cycle the Wave every year for its five years' existence. Most fun ride around. I don't know of any other similar ones in the region. I can speak highly of the Little Red Riding Hood- Adifferent kicky theme each year, limited to a certain umber of registrations, many male sag guys dressed as wolves, a token red riding hood (also male) to see everyone off, excellent support, rural agricultural river valley and foot hill riding, most roads closed to automobile traffic, lots of police help, happy send off breakfast and welcome party after with band and vendors of things bikey.

I can speak highly of the Little Red Riding Hood- Adifferent kicky theme each year, limited to a certain umber of registrations, many male sag guys dressed as wolves, a token red riding hood (also male) to see everyone off, excellent support, rural agricultural river valley and foot hill riding, most roads closed to automobile traffic, lots of police help, happy send off breakfast and welcome party after with band and vendors of things bikey.

Now, how fun is that?? Sounds fabulous...I can't think the boys have that much fun on their rides.
