MTBs and CX bikes live in the garage exclusively. Road bikes Summer in the garage, but during the Winter months come to live in the living room...we push the sofa back to make room in our small living room for 2-3 bikes on trainers (so we can do Sufferfest workouts or bike while watching movies).

Both of my road bikes are in the basement. The hybrid is hung up in the storage room off the garage and the hauler is on the storage room floor. DP's bike is in the garage where we also fit both of our cars, and a snow blower.![]()

My Ruby and my husband's commuter and recreational road bikes (both about 1993 era) live in the storage /laundry room by side door entry from the carport. DH's Trek Navigator (alternate commuter- aka "The Elk") hangs locked on the front porch. My son's unused bike is locked to the security bars in the back and there are a couple of other bikes (my mixte and an old Miyata in a storage shed in the back. There might be some more bikes back there too.

My bike also comes inside in the winter but not because she's put away for the season, or is hanging out on the trainer. Starting out warm gives me a few extra minutes before the brake cables freeze over in the morning.

In the living room. The kids' bikes are under the stairs. The retired bikes are down in the wine cellar.
I have three bikes and a trike. three bikes are in spare bedroom. It is also where my big computer resides. A very secure room. Spare bedroom is upstairs so the thief would need a lot of hutzpa... Only one of my bike is worth anything Specialized transition-pro with SRAM force. One is a carryover from the '80s bike and a third bike is an entry level after I decided to stop riding and sold my Litespeed racing bike. After realizing error of my ways, I bought an entry level bike. Still I hate to see my possession stolen no matter how cheap it is.
The trike must weigh over 60 pounds. It is a recumbent delta style trike. Not much interest and definitely not something you want to ride away or even try to load it into a car. Pkup yes but not a car. Too long and too big.
I never felt safe with my bike in the garage. Proof of it was when my sister and BIL's bike were stolen from the garage. Guy used a bolt cu
tter to defeat the locks on the bike.
