    Kickstarter for a steel bike

Perhaps this Kickstarter funding request for a steel road bike with clearance for wide tires might appeal to people in this forum?

I love the idea, but the standover on their smallest one would almost certainly not work for me. My CX bike is a 44 and the smallest model they're doing is a 50. A steel CX bike with disc brakes would otherwise be sort of a dream machine for me.

I have a Volagi and I love it. The company owners are great folks and the bike is innovative and just plain fun to ride. The disc brakes are amazing - that's what originally sold me on the bike, plus the fact it's a local company and I wanted to support them.

    Sizing: I'm a 52 in a usual road bike and ride a 53 Volagi.

For Kirsten, who was concerned about sizing for smaller folks, they did just come out with a smaller size of their carbon frame (Susan, one of the owners, is small) and I wouldn't be surprised if the did the Viaje in a smaller size eventually.

Dangerous knowledge! Someday I will have a CX bike with disc brakes and a set of road wheels/tires. A friend has a custom Ti Seven Mudhoney that she uses for everything. Hers still has cantilevers, though. I'm a HUGE fan of discs. I tried ONE ride last Winter when it was 18º...once the rims got iced-up stopping was pretty much not possible. Discs would work a lot better for Winter riding.

    Now I want both.
Nice bike! Too bad it would be too big for me in the smallest size. Seems like only a couple of companies make CX bikes small enough for shorter folks. If I ever ended up with an "uber bike" it would likely be a carbon Redline (since I love the fit of my little 44cm Conquest so much) or maybe a custom Seven in Ti. Or maybe a carbon Cannondale...can't recall if the SuperX comes small enough, or not.
