Talking Okay, I did it right this time. 2012 Dolce Elite on Layaway!

Okay, I did it right this time. No more buying random frames off Ebay

So I have been looking at road bikes for a couple of seasons and I keep going back to Specialized bikes because they fit the best. After working with the store manager for 3 hours today I put the very last 2012 54cm Dolce Elite in the entire MN metro area on layaway.

3-6 months should be enough time to figure out how to sneak it past DH and into the fleet.

Yay! I am so excited! I just wish I had more color options - the bike is white. Blech.. oh well, there's always bar tape and accessories.

White is my favorite color for cars, bikes, etc., so congrats! And good luck sneaking it in :-)

I'm going to look at it as a blank white canvas upon which to decorate. And as far as DH goes, It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission

    Congrats on the new bike.

My Specialized is white, too. It is accented in blue. LOL . . . I paid $400 to get it that color! I couldn't stand the color of last year's close out model (to me an ugly blue) so I had to upgrade to a better 2012 model. Oh dear, how did THAT happen? I don't paticularly like the white handlebar tape but am working on changing that. I want to match the blue in the bike but having trouble finding what I want in the states. I have found that because the bike is nearly all white I am more prone to wash this bike than my last one.

What LBS are you working with? Just curious.

Let me know how it goes sneaking it past the DH. I want a new hybrid but quite haven't figured out how I could sneak it home and hide it.

    Many thanks for the congrats

Kajero - Oh no, don't give me any ideas about upgrading to get a different color! I hadn't thought of that

I'm working with Erik's Bike Shop in Bloomington, and I am thrilled at the service I've received. The manager helping me is literally the first person I've bought a bike from who said they enjoyed working with me because I noticed all the subtle differences in the feel of the frame. What a nice change. Usually I am accused of having princess and the pea syndrome.

The other bonus is they will let me start customizing it while it's still in layaway. Bar tape, cages, pedals, etc. May help it fly under DH's radar.. Oh LOOK! It's not a new bike, it's last year's model!

I bought my bike from Erik's in St Louis Park. I visited the other bike shops and am so happy I went with Erik's!

    Thumbs up Dolce Elite

Congratulations! I have a 2009 Dolce Elite (I'm sure there are differences in that model now.). At the time the Elite came in a metallic white with white bar tape and saddle, and a metallic "ruby" red (with black rims, saddle and tape). I ordered the latter sight unseen and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived that it was actually a deeper garnet color. That said, the white was equally striking. Specialized sure knows how to make 'purty' bikes!
