The bike I have right now is in a pretty bad shape. The fork is currently the weakest link. It's a 2001 bike and it's sporting a very old 70mm Headshok that is leaking and the damping dial is missing. In addition, the frame is good, but the headtube and headset sizes are non-standard (it's the Univega standard that died out the same year they introduced it, no spare parts available) so the headset is all stitched up so that the fork can fit.
The rest of the parts can be reused (full XT, good Mavic wheels and RockShox rear shock).

As much as I love the bike and believe it's just what I need to get out and up the hills more often, it's not the wisest decision right now if I'm being honest. I'm a student and I can't guarantee that my income source will last. Perhaps it would be wiser to save up for a $500-1000-ish frame and a new fork? :/
