    Non eye stinging sunscreen

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I apply sunscreen to my face prior to riding, and what happens is 20-30 min into the ride your starting to sweat, the sweat mixes with sunscreen and ends up getting into my eyes which stings. I tried 3 or 4 different brands and usually get the unscented but it's not always clear on the labels if it actually is unscented. Currently using Neutrogena ultimate sport with SPF 70 and still have the issue of it getting into my eyes and stinging.
I'm not plastering the sunscreen on my face, or applying it that close to the eyes.
If you read this and happen to know of a product that is non sting, let me know.

I don't put sunscreen on my forehead. Between sunglasses and my helmet, the skin there is not exposed to the sun.

Sometimes I put chapstick above and around my eyes to keep sweat from running into them. However the sweat will run around and down the edge of the chapstick, so you have to apply it in a large arc all the way from one side of the eye to the other, otherwise it will get into the corners of your eyes.

I don't put sunscreen above my eyes either for the same reason - and I second the chapstick arc idea to redirect the sweat. If you really need the sunscreen there, you could get some of the baby no tears kind of sunscreen or sunscreen stick. It might be too thick for the rest of your face, but you could use it just on your forehead.

Even without sunscreen, just sweat running into my eyes stings. My buff usually does the trick, but the chapstick trick helps.

I use a chapstick with SPF in an arc around my eyebrows and down the side of my eyes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Generally, that part of my face doesn't see much sun anyway, tho.
I use Bullfrog sport on a stick for my nose and cheeks. It seems to go on thicker and stay on better than liquid sunscreen.

You guys are awesome! That Chapstick idea is brilliant, and totally something I would never of thought of. Next ride, I'm getting the Chapstick out! Thanks for the tip

I always wear a Buff under my helmet, pulled down to above my eyebrows, so I never use sunscreen above the eyes.

I tried many many different type of sunscreens until I finally found one that does not sting my eyes.

The one I use is All Terrian Aqua Sport

Around me I haven't seen it in mass-market retailers using at a outdoor retailer such as EMS or REI.

My Giro helmet has a visor.

I've never worn sunscreen on my forehead.

Mychelle makes the most awesome sunscreen. Non-comedogenic, non-stinging, and best of all it's reef-safe (I know, coral reefs and cycling really don't go hand in hand...but I still care!) It doesn't have nasty stuff and doesn't make you look like a ghost. Last I checked Whole Foods carried it.

I use a product called Z Blok - I put it on my face, arms, neck, legs and find it works real well. I don't like the smell or feel of 99% of the sunscreens out there, but this one is not greasy nor does it smell and it's big claim to fame is that it won't sting your eyes....and it doesn't.

I wear a bondi band from the running store which essentially is the same as a narrow buff across my forehead just above the eyebrows and carry a bandanna around the bike stem so if I need to wipe off just above my eyes, which sweats heavily, with a clean not salty surface.
