I'm glad that you enjoyed the race more this year V.

I am also routinely astounded by how poor the bike handling is in triathlon. And it drives me crazy to no end when people hang out close to the yellow line like that. Argh.

Good luck on the next race.

I always love reading your race reports - thank you for taking the time to share

Congrats on a good race - maybe try an aquabike in the mix, just for fun? Along with the tris? I'm thinking of doing it since I *still* can't really run (and I can't wrap my brain around training to walk to run of a tri).

I love your race report - "I didn't make any of my [time] goals and I don't care" really sums it up. Had a good time, did well for the training volume you put in, success!

How were the weather conditions? I'm guessing by the all-white, it was warm?

Speaking of too close to the center... Ironman CdA this year had a downhill section that started in a single file no-pass zone because it was too narrow. After that, it opens up. These two guys were riding in front of me on the second loop and I was faster, but they were way too close to the center lane for me to go around them. Not close enough to the left for me to go around on the right (not to mention a major no-no), not close enough to the right for me to go around on the left, and going WAY too fast to say "on your left" and not be risky. They weren't using their brakes but I was using mine, as was the woman behind me. Bah!

It was about 85 by the time I was running. I started doing the the all white to avoid sunburn last year and to not overheat. Those arm cooler things really do work. The jersey is made from the same fabric. A pain in the neck to get on when you're wet, but worth it to not be sun burnt!

You did really well. I'm glad you were in a happier place this year. I cannot imagine running after getting off the bike for three hours. You must be so strong!

85, yikes. I am really really hoping the Austin weather holds together at the end of October and isn't still super hot. Last year it was in the 60s, but normally it's in the upper 70s, so days in the 80s would not be unheard of. 60s sounds perfectly fine to me.

I love my arm coolers, I might need to invest in the jersey.

I never really felt hot, but at every run rest stop someone had a hose to spray. And I went through it every time. Rest stops were every mile.

The volunteers at this race are great. I do wish the race officials awarded more penalties. I saw a team of 4 drafting each other on the bike, numerous people wearing headphones on the run, outside assistance on the run for a team, outside pacers on the run...
