Maybe the beach volleyball and water polo players should switch uniforms for a couple games...
Is the womens beach volleyball uniform somehow designed to be more functional? In some sports, I get that their clothing serves a functional purpose, and there is some custom that is carried forward (really, it seems like a lot of sports could share or overlap more uniform elements than they do). In indoor volleyball they wear hipsters, more or less, closer to runners than beach volleyball. Seems like those would be equally or more functional and perhaps less wedgie-inducing. As for the tops, the US womens sports bra tops look a little more... secure... than other teams, more like running, though not a full singlet. They were mostly wearing tops over their tops (heh) today because it was chilly - announcers said the sand was 45 degrees, cold feet. The Argentinean women were constantly picking out wedgies and pulling up their tops, so I guess it could be worse.
I wonder how much sand the guy that has to chase the ball down has in his shoes.
