Gorgeous day! It's been june-gloomy the last few days, but today is bright and sunny. Nice short ride with a friend, beach and hills, breakfast, woohoo!

Rain yesterday morning-->no ride; and I had to work until 7. Threatened to rain this morning, and work-->no ride. I was going to ride after work, but my parents were in town and asked if I wanted to get coffee, then my sister wanted to hang out for a bit. Now I'm starving. Will ride tomorrow.
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I was able to take one of my friends out yesterday for her first ride, she is coming off a bad year of illness, and in the midst of an unexpected divorce. Only rode 14 miles with a two hour break in the middle to visit another friend but she did great. Helped her work on her gearing and shifting. Was nice to put a smile on her face.

Tapering this weekend - rode 51 miles Saturday and, as is my tradition on the eve of the Red Ribbon Ride, did Mental Toughness with the Evil Coach Troy yesterday. I am glad that I forced myself and get out and ride in all this awful hot, humid weather we have been experiencing over the past month because that's what the forecast is looking like for the Ride, which begins Thursday.

The weekend feels like a bit of a failure on the ride front. We intended to mountain bike either Saturday or Sunday. There were spotty showers/storm in the areas on Saturday, so Sunday it was. Come Sunday morning, however, my seasonal allergies decided to flare and I felt really lethargic. MTBing is so much harder on me than road riding and it really sucks to do on less than a full tank. So, we opted to skip the MTB ride in favor of a 20-mile road ride. Wouldn't you know, that I ended up feeling great during the ride. Grrrr. Maybe next weekend.....

I am sort of scared of what's to come allergy wise though. Ragweed season still isn't in full swing yet. This could get a lot worse before it gets better.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.
