A note of thanks to all of the wonderful ladies on the forum for the priceless information. I've scoured and lurked for the past couple of weeks as I shopped for my perfect road bike. I narrowed the field down to a Trek Madone 4 series or a Specialized Ruby. Long story short I just took delivery of my Ruby with speed play light action pedals and road shoes. First day I road 31 miles, climbed 4500 ft and did not kiss pavement Honestly I was a little frightened reading the horror stories of clip less pedals but I did it!!! My local bike shop guy said that if I didn't get the hang of clip less after one dump I might as well hang up the road bike. Thanks for the encouragement dude?... Anyway my butt is sore from the stock saddle and hopefully my new saddle will address this issue. It was exhilarating to move up from my Trek 7.5 commuter to a carbon road bike. Climbing hills was sweet with my new SRAM gearing! Who knew... Thanks again gorgeous bike goddesses!

Yay, congrats on choosing a sweet bike! Okay, I have one also so I'm partial... but I do love my Ruby. I'm sure you'll have many, many happy miles with your new bike.

The Speedplays I'm still getting used to

Climbing IS much easier on the carbon frame, but you did really well. I'm impressed!

What saddle are you switching over to? The Lithia isn't bad, but not quite right for me either. Still considering what to try next.

The bike shop guy was not as much help as I would have liked. Their repair shop is good though and depending on who waits on you there is a possibility of good service. I was empowered with information gleaned from this wonderful site though After dropping a significant amount of money on a new ride I wasn't going to hang up the bike after one dump! (Douchebag) The light action speed plays are nice and I really enjoyed the extra power from the upstroke!

The stock saddle on the Ruby was certainly better than the one on the Madone. The Madone I rode wasn't tuned up either and the gears rattled. What a turn off! The saddle was like sitting on a hatchet! I was going to mention it to the shop guy but figured I would get further in testosteroneville with a demure approach. :roll eyes:

I ordered a Selle Italia Diva Gel Flow. The cut out works for me and I need a bit wider seat than a 143. Will report back if it is the one?
