I'll ask if I remember, but seriously, this is the same webbing and similar ratcheting that motorcycle tie-downs use - that's why it seemed so easy to make out of stuff a lot of us already have lying around the house (or garage). The only potential wear point would be the anchor - as long as you keep that from abrading the webbing, it should last purt'near forever. You'd probably want to inspect the seams now and then just to be on the safe side, but I really wouldn't worry about it, it's such a simple device.
