We have tentative plans to go to two other parks soon to ride. They've been to both and can show us the ropes.
    Sounds great Indy!

My mountain bike came out of the shop today so I took it to Fort Harrison and practiced in the beginners loop there. It really is too easy for me, but a perfect place to practice skills. Tomorrow I've a long ride planned to and from my gym for a Bosu class. We will see, but I think I should be able to have some ice cream tomorrow afternoon after riding for 43 miles with an hour long hard Bosu class halfway through the ride

Will ride for Blue Bell Ice Cream

I essentially rode 48 miles (round trip) for ice cream and a sandwich. ...after not riding for two weeks. Bad idea. I went out in the afternoon (bad idea), pushed it on the way out (bad idea), and got on the bike too soon after eating (worse idea). You can see where this is going. There was no puking, but it was a pretty miserable 14 miles back to Xenia, where I refilled my water bottles, then sat on a bench, totally exhausted, and called my boyfriend to ask "Do I have to ride the ten miles back to the car?"
At least I don't leave slime trails.

I went about 25 miles today. My goal was to go as far as I could on this particular road that is bike friendly. It's a park system that is very scenic. The county shuts down part of the road on Saturdays in the late spring and summer for people to cycle, roller blade, walk, or run on the road. Anyway, I got pretty far until the road merged into another busy road. I was too chicken to go further, so I turned around. I was tired by the time I road home. It was very beautiful today. A big black bug hit me in the teeth on the way back. I found it rather humorous and slightly painful since it bounced off my lip. So I guess I was a happy cyclist today. :-)

It's fascinating to read about your journey. And I had a good laugh over the showers comment. They sound like the ones at my junior high, at least until they built the shiny new gym.
