    Endure

So I forgot to mention, after the race I went up North with some of my girl friends to Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear National Park. (If you want to come to MI I HIGHLY recommend Glen Arbor and Sleeping Bear Dunes--AMAZING and lots of great cycling too!!!).

We had a condo right on Lake Michigan Beach. Every morning I walked the beach looking for "treasures": petoskey stones, beach glass, etc. And of course just to enjoy being on the Lake. It was incredibly peaceful.

There were thousands of rocks on the beach--very different from where I live where its pure sand. Our last morning there I was walking along and I noticed a rock peaking through the sand, the crashing waves were slowly unearthing it. It had some strange marks on the top. So I stopped and dug it out thinking it might be a fossil. But it wasn't.

Someone had written "ENDURE" on the face of the stone.

It was the perfect treasure to take home from my LJ100 experience.

Funny story...LW was so filthy by the time she finished that we weren't sure it was her. Her husband and I and other friends were cheering, then 2nd-guessed ourselves. I got one good shot of her approaching the finish:

Such an amazing thing to spectate. There's something about being in the woods that makes everyone so supportive. I've run the North Country Trail Relay which crosses through the Lumberjack course. I had the same vibe the 2 years I ran that event (before I destroyed my left ankle on that course).

Wow, limewave, you are totally FIERCE! That is one amazingly intense ride/race report. I simply can't imagine.

And the rock you found -- perfect.

That sounds awesome! So glad you did it And finding that rock is just crazy, what a coincidence!

Now I feel like I need to ride more. (And I'm feeling very guilty that I set my alarm to ride to work and then wimped out when I saw that it was going to be 99 today).
