I totally understand - two of my kids had similar issues with learning to ride. My mom finally helped one of my kids, who was having the same mental issues about riding his bike, by having him think of how airplanes fly. If they stop when it's time to take off, they wouldn't fly. So if you want to "fly" on your bike, you have to keep pedaling and look ahead.

I have a 14 yr old (boy), a 12 yr old (boy), and a 9 yr old (girl). I'd be happy to bring my kids and meet up with you on the trail - see if the girls hit it off? My daughter only recently figured out riding in the last year or so. We just bought her a bike with gears, which she is getting confidence with. She's not used to hand brakes yet.

Sometimes it helps to have a peer? Let me know - as a parent, I know the time we do have for leisure is at a premium.
