    Hellllooooooo Fosco!!

I have been going through the steps to get a dog for our household for a while. We finally got all of our ducks in a row and found our dog. I think he's perfect, but what Momma wouldn't?

He's about 22 lbs, 8 months old and nobody (including the vet) seems to have any confidence guessing what breeds are mixed in. He's definitely got a lot of terrier in him but I've been telling people he's a teacup great dane.

ETA: TSPoet, I can't wait to start agility with Fosco!!

Aw, he's a beauty! His name is Fosco? That's cute!

One of our dogs is a massive blend of breeds...we just call her 'super mutt'.

Trying to add to this thread, not sure it will work. This is my kitty Skittles. She is 11 and I rescued her at six weeks old. She's a moody calico but loves me to death and vice versa.

He does not like water. But he does like to attack and kill bugs.

That's too bad. I have one that is afraid in the car, so I have a 1 hr limit on how far I'll drive her. Does cut down the competition choices! She needs one more leg for a rally novice title, as does Tari. Obedience and other performance events with dogs are a great deal of fun, and the dogs just love it - all of it, even the obedience.

Don't wait! Jump bumps (large pvc pipes on the ground) with standards to safely start jump training. Contact work over boards painted yellow the last 3 feet, and wobble boards... make sure that it's a game, if it isn't fun, then it isn't worth doing.
    He's wonderful looking, BTW.

I have no idea what you mean by "with standards" or "contact over boards". BF and I have a teeter already for practice on the mountain bikes and some skinnies. I was goind to start him on those. He has already demonstrated that he can clear a 2.5 foot gate (he's only 15" at the shoulder), this makes it very difficult to contain him. I just love how athletic he is, even if it means that we have to be a little more diligent.

Winding Road, beautiful kitty -- surely not too evil!

Owlie, good luck -- so exciting to add a new family member.

Wahine, Fosco looks like lots of energetic fun. And I love the name -- is there a story to go with it?

Lovelygamer, Skittles is gorgeous. Calico cats are great!

I just saw this! I love nothing more than to talk about Fosco, so I jumped at the chance.

When we adopted Fosco, his shelter name was Hooch. He didn't respond to that at all but would come running if you made clucking sounds or other hardish sounds. So when we brought him home, I told my BF (who had never had a dog) that he should name him but that the name had to have a hard sound in it. BF is a HUGE Tolkien fan, so he picked up a copy of one of the Lord of the Rings series that has a family tree in the back of it. That's where he found Fosco. Fosco was the grandfather of Frodo, Uncle to Bilbo.

He learned his new name very quickly.

And that is the story of how Hooch became Fosco.
