    Cindy weather report watch

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Bikeless sent me the link a few days ago and on

    http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/94568

it showed a drenched Cindy. Now it looks a little better, and last two years it has not rained....

My plan I think is that rain or shine here in Hayward we head out to the ride start. It can be raining buckets here and sunny there, microclimates ya'know so just go and see.

If it's nice that'd be great
If it looks threatening I plan to ride.
If it's raining buckets? Probably not.
If it's raining but not hard like mist hmmm, on the one hand Bikeless is used to literaly arctic weather, but may not have the bike handling experience for wet weather rides, or maybe better at it than me because I think she sometimes rides in the snow so what are other people doing if it rains?

If it pours on Cindy but sunny the next day we can punt and do another ride.

    Weather!

Hey thanks for that link! I hijacked it and re-directed it to Solvang for the double century. Looks pretty good... "mostly sunny". Of course my body is so unused to what sun is that I will likely get sun poisoning!!

Planning to show up. Figure we can have that conversation over dinner on Friday night. I think it depends on what the storm does on Friday when rain is forecast. Will it arrive on time or later than forecast, etc.

Riding in the rain isn't bad if you are prepared for it. If nothing else, we can get sagged in!

LATEST FORECAST - 20% CHANCE. PARTLY CLOUDY- THAT'S ALL.

*sigh* I really hope we don't get drenched... However, if we do, I have my rain gear. Doing all those miles in the gear won't be fun however. I hate it when I have sticky clothes.

But, rain or shine I plan to be at least at start. If the rain is pretty bad I may still go anyway but see how far I can get before I get fed up.

I'm game to ride in the rain. If its really raining hard and windy, I might think twice, but a light drizzle isn't bad to ride in.

I've found weatherunderground.com to be a pretty reliable source for weather-watching (thanks Snap!). The radar helps me make up my mind if I want to try it that day or not!!

Did Lemon Drop today, where was my lemon drop?

First off I want to send a quick shout to Cindysue and the Lunachix, Velogirls and Valleyspokespersons for the training ride series. Although I only got to two of the rides this one was awesome.

9 women were at BART for this the last of the series.

If you are in Northern CA and did not get outside today, shame on you

The route was wonderful (I'm pirating the turn sheet and may use it on an ALC training ride). The group set a brisk yet human pace, didn't dilly dally at regroups which was nice. After an early stop at porta poties one of the riders dropped out and called her DH to pick her up. She had a borrowed road bike and it's just geared too high plus did not fit well.

If you're lurking I hope you come to the Cindy with your mountain bike.

Another gal was struggling a bit, running low on water and energy. After Lemon Drop we turned and there was a guy selling oranges by the side of the road. He insisted on slicing oranges for us and would not accept anything, we tried to pay him and he shook us off. But that snack kept her going.

Once again thanks Cindysue for the wonderful weather , can you do that next week?

I feel very tight. I haven't been riding as much as I should but have been lifting and that's interesting. I felt strong on the hills, stood on some, something I "never do", a sit and spin gal. But I'm not tired, just real tight, so off to take a hot bath, have some tea and choose which rain gear to pack just in case.

"Probability of measurable precipitation 40 percent" means 40% chance of rain..
From NOAA: It is "the likelihood, expressed as a percent, of a measurable precipitation event (1/100th of an inch) at a grid point during the indicated valid period." Rain doesn't always hit the ground or fall in a measurable amount. For instance, it can be in the form of virga.

There is a great description of how to read the NOAA forecasts at:
