Welcome to the Lexa Club! That's a really nice looking bike. For me was a good decision of a entry level bike since I'm a newbie as well. Congrats! Please post pics as soon as you get the bike. We LOVE pics!!

Good for you! A new bike is always exciting.

Yes, agreed on the sizing. I had to order my correct sized bike as well.

My old too big bike was about a 54cm. And my shop that sold it for me said I believe that is the most common size.

My roadie now is a 49cm. Which is about 1 in 1000 customers he said. With a 52cm being about 1 in 100.

Gee isn't that special?! (nightmare to find anything to test ride lol )

Glad you got her coming on the way.

That really surprises me. I'm a very average-sized woman (worldwide average height for women is just under 5'4"...which is right where I am). My Cannondale is a 48, which might be closer to a 50 in other brands, since I gather that Cdales run big. Most of the females I know are on 48-52cm frames. We're not rare. My bike might be a bit more rare, since it's not a WSD. That said, bike shops still don't stock smaller frames (like mine) in unisex models. My first road bike was a WSD, but our LBS (which is admittedly a small shop) had a size smaller than what I needed and one larger, so I still wasn't able to test ride.

I think that guy's either BSing you or making excuses for not having things in stock for you to try. 54cm might be the most common size FOR MEN. I'd suspect that something like a 52 is the most common size overall, as that would hit taller women and shorter men.

LOL, no. What planet was this guy living on? I have seen exactly two 53/54cm WSD bike on the floor, except at the Trek Store where they have a smaller range to stock, so they can have more sizes available. They're still by-and-large the low-end bikes. The higher end stuff seems to only make it to the floor in the small sizes. Makes it really hard to test-ride, since in at least some brands I need a 54. (I need a 51cm Cannondale, though, but see comments about them running long, and I ride the equivalent of a 50cm Giant.) Sounds like he was trying to sell you what was on the floor.

Zoom, my LBS keeps mostly 56-58cm unisex bikes around...
