I'm so sorry to hear that you've fallen. Are you okay? Even at 36, falling hurts and it's embarrassing. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.
Geesh..am I really 36??

So fell again off bike as I was turning my bike slowly across a lightly snowy, lightly slippery pedestrian plaza. Going slow enough that I just landed on my whole side off the bike..@ 6:30 am today.
Last time I fell, it also cycling slowly on a gravelly bike path in the summer. No one else around either. But got serious chunks of skin off my knee.
No, I haven't gotten around to getting studded tires..winter is almost over. So something for next winter to consider...
Falling off the bike @53 yrs. is not the same as @21 yrs. And I'm a small person.

Ouch. Baby yourself tonight for sure. I fell once this winter after tangling with dogs. I was pretty lucky that I was sore for only a few days. Other than a bruised hip, which kept waking me up at night for better than a week as I would try to turn over on it.

Just fine. But all the times I've fallen, have been when I've been going slow.
3 out of the 4 times I've fallen off the bike in the past 5 years, have been in the winter on ice/snow conditions.
So my precaution not to cycle if I know in advance, any ice and snow on sides of road, really stems from these experiences falling...on a bike path or once on a very quiet residential street going up a gentle rise with black ice. (Imagine going down such a rise on black ice..)

Ouch. Sorry you fell.
Watching pro cycling helped me not be embarrassed about falling; those guys crash all the time. (Nevermind that what I'm doing is only remotely similar to what they are doing.)
I hope you aren't too sore tomorrow.
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
Sorry about the fall! Hope everything heals up real quickly.
Me too. In fact sometimes I've been almost stopped (trying to turn around at the end of the street, trying to stop at a stop sign with new toe cages). But I'd guess that's not so uncommon. Bikes are tremendously stable when they are going fast enough. On the other hand falls are much less damaging when you are going slow enough.

The last time I crashed I was barely moving, too. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, though, and I was coming to a stop light, turning left, watching for traffic, distracted by an oncoming pickup, and I couldn't get unclipped in time. Crunch. That was the day I decided to switch back to platform pedals.

I'm welcoming myself to this club. I have fell twice this week with my new road bike
while learning to clip/unclip and trust me the thought of going back to regular pedals crossed my mind countless times. I wasn't moving for both falls.

Every time it hurts and is embarrassing. I fall all the time. Yesterday I fell on a rocky trail but I only dusted my clothes. It wasn't the case on Saturday. I was riding on flat ground without obstacles. Though, I found myself with a dull pain in the *** on the ground. I was totally surprised and when I looked at my bike, I saw a big brunch sticking out of my rear wheel and spikes. I can still feel the pain on my whole rear body. Also the muscles of my neck are always tense after every fall because they are used like a suspension to protect the body.
It's not possible to ride a bike and not fall. Even Lance says it. So, the only thing we can do is pray for less damage and insignificant traumas...or stop riding.
