No less than a few months ago, I was making fun of my co-worker for wanting a single speed. They're kind of useless, eh? I found this graphic a while ago:

This orange thing is paid for, I'm just waiting for drops to replace the flat bars, and a new alloy rim. I can't ride flat bar, holy crow, my wrists feel like snapping. I think I'll also put fenders & a rack on it, but I'll probably do that myself at the local bike kitchen.

I walked into the shop, asked if he had any beater ss conversions, and he said "how do you feel about orange?"
SOLD.
hebe, I'm glad you like my bike pictures. I can't stop thinking about bikes, I drew this at work.
Same! My first bike was a bright orange Schwinn Varsity 10-speed, which I, quite literally, would ride all day long, mostly on the trails/woods behind my house. Never heard of a trail bike back in the 70s. I loved that bike. I wonder what happened to it?
Congrats on the new bike! I like it.
My first bike as a kid was orange too (with a glittery banana seat). I loved that bike! I've been partial to orange lately as I just painted my kitchen orange. Congratulations!
Looks good.
The orange is catchy.
My linguist brain is jumping back and forth between "pollo" (the Spanish chicken) and "Apollo" (the Greek god of--you know--whatever he was god of).
Each day is a gift, that's why it is called the present.
I think it needs some swept back albatross bars![]()

I'm piggy-backing on this thread rather than starting a new one because the title fits: I'm so excited!
As some of you know, I accidentally got back into cycling about two months ago and immediately fell in love. I traded in my impulse-buy Specialized Crossroads for a Trek FX 7.5 and have been riding as much as I can, up to 30-mile rides on the weekend so far, though I'm slow slow slow. Due to fit issues with the few road bikes I was trying out (thanks to all for the good ideas I got here), I got a professional fitting, learned I have weirdly long femurs, and went the custom geometry route with a Gunnar Sport. Six weeks later, it's ready! Sadly my work schedule won't allow me to go get it until Saturday morning, but I've broken in my Brooks B17 saddle (love it), and feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas morning! I haven't felt this happy anticipation in years, and can't wait to get on "my" bike.
I LOVE the orange!Gatta love someone who can rock an unconventional color

Nice bike! I love the orange. My bianchi is a very beautiful Kandy Mango (orange). I applaud you for looking for colorful fenders. I have a green Gary Fisher with purple bar ends and will be adding blue fenders soon. That bike, I call "Skittles". Ride the rainbow!!!!
