Carbon fiber bike on a trainer?

This may be weird question but here goes. After searching, I managed to find an incredible deal on a carbon fiber frame (which after tons of test rides, is my preference over aluminum, ti and steel). I will be spending the next 1-2 months building the bike. Anyway, I plan on road riding and doing quite a bit on my trainer, which up until recently when I sold it, had my cyclo cross bike on it. Several people have told me that I should not put a full carbon frame on a trainer and have suggested purchasing an inexpensive bike to put on the trainer.

My question is this. The company that makes my frame has an aluminum version which is similar in geometry but not identical. I can get a good deal on this bike but its still an expense. I figure if I buy the trainer bike, it will take me an extra 2-3 weeks to complete the build on the other one just due to my budget.

Is it worth it to get the training bike or will my carbon fiber bike be ok on the trainer? I really do quite a bit on my trainer, its almost a meditation for me.

I wouldn't put a carbon frame bike on a trainer. But that's just me. I read somewhere that trainers can be hard on frames, so only my "beater" bikes end up on my trainer.

    This is a myth

Carbon bikes are just fine on stationary trainers.

    Agree....

Carbon fiber is an extremely strong material. My carbon fiber's been on my trainer now for 2 years...

But carbon bikes are so purty and so expensive...

Carbon is tough, but get a steel framed and cheap bike, set it to your carbon bikes specs and leave it on the trainer permanantly.

Only put your expensive precious on a trainer when at an an event and warming up before the START...

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

I have used my carbon bike on the trainer but I built up my old Cannondale for the trainer. That way I don't have to keep taking it off and on.

However, for my rehab from ACL surgery, my LBS set my carbon bike up for the trainer. Because I don't have full range of motion in my knee they raised my saddle and handlebars. I'm even using my American Classic wheelset.

Anyway, my LBS voluntary set the bike up for the trainer. If there had been a concern I'm sure they would have recommended against it.
