Tune in to weather reports now if you're anywhere in that area. Nashville is currently under warning -- take cover now. Cincinnati airport has been evacuated.
Sheriff's office says Marysville, IN is "completely gone."
Hoping everyone is okay.

Awful.

How sad is this...I'd never heard of Marysville, IN, so I googled and found a Wiki page. Until today their wiki would have had no info...now there's just this.
Heartbreaking. And I have friends in other areas who are pretty terrified by the forecasts for their area. We are staying in because they are predicting 2-5" of snow and wind gusts of 55-65mph, which would make for bad driving conditions with 0 visibility after dark.
We've not really had Winter this year...it sure is going out with a fight.

I'm so sorry for all the deadly storms they've been having the last couple days. Thoughts go out to everyone up there. ((hugs))

Most of my family lives in north east Ohio (near Youngstown for those who know where that is otherwise it's right between Cleveland, Oh and Pittsburgh,PA) and I knew the storms were headed that way. For us whatever we get will be sometime tomorrow if it makes it here. Charlotte is supposed to get hit overnight, at that point we'll have a better idea of what is headed towards us. Hope all that are in it's path stay safe.

We dodged the worst of it in central Indiana.
If you don't already have one, get a weather radio.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

Any recommendations? We've only had it less than a year, but our cadillac Midland radio no longer receives a signal. I'm not happy.
On a more important note, my heart goes out to those affected by these recent storms. I'm afraid of the weather-related implications of this mild winter....
Yesterday's tornado in Harrisburg Illinois missed my aunt & uncle's house by a couple of blocks.
Hope everyone has a nice quiet spring after this.
Beth
my heart goes out to any one living in or near any tornado zones. between the droughts, the wildfires, the snow and blizzards, the rains and flooding and now the tornado, it surely seems like Mother Nature is a bit P*****.
Hope everyone survives.

I haven't tried it, but this should be guaranteed forever by LL Bean, and it gets good reviews.

Scary stuff. In particular and in general. Sending good thoughts out to all those affected.
As far as weather radio, whatever kind you get, make sure it can accept an external antenna - then get one and use it. Many don't accept one. If you live in hilly terrain, in heavy forest or on the wrong side of certain buildings, you may find that without an external antenna, your radio can only receive signal from the weather stations on the lee side of your prevailing winds. Not a whole lot of good to be getting the alerts fifteen minutes after the storm's passed you. If you're in a valley you may not be able to get any signal at all without an external antenna.

Beth, I had no idea you have family here. Harrisburg, Illinois, is 25 miles from me and is home to my husband's parents, sister and nephews and families. Two of my stepchildren live in neighboring towns. Everyone is ok, thankfully. The entire area has pulled together to offer assistance and the devastation and personal accounts are just mind-boggling.
The tornados that swept through the country yesterday set the sirens off at my workplace around 11:45 am and the entire building spent the next 30 minutes in the hall. The tornado in Harrisburg is a reminder that we live in tornado alley. I would say that we are used to it but I don't know if you ever get used to the feeling you get when the sirens go off or a warning's been issued.
