Question crankset change & BB compatibility

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I'm thinking about switching out my double compact crankset (Shimano Ultergra grey 50/34) to a standard double crankset (Shimano Ultergra grey 53/39).

Would I also need a new bottom bracket (it's Shimano Dura-Ace)? Or is it compatible with the switch?

And I assume I will need a new chain since the current chain that fits the 50/34 compact crank will be too short to fit the larger 53/39 standard crank?

    Thanks!

I'm not an expert on this, but I'm pretty sure that your existing BB will be fine with the switch. If you were going from a BB30 to a non-BB30, then you'd need an adapter. But that doesn't appear to be the case, so you should be good to go with what you've got.
