Chamois Butter - Not just for Butts Anymore!

So, I was doing my bike errands this morning and taking the long way home, and stopped to put some lip balm on...only it had fallen out of my pocket. RATS. I'd rather ride with a dry chain than dry lips.

So I'm rifling through my panniers looking for some suitable alternative or maybe a spare tube that had fallen in the corners somewhere. Nothing. Oh, but there is one of those little disposable tubes of chamois butter. Hmmm... I wonder.

Actually it worked rather wonderfully. Just one smear lasted me the rest of the ride home. Ah, soft moist, happy lips. The only drawback being that it doesn't have sunscreen, but then, I supposed the usual place you put it doesn't see much sunshine anyway.

I took a photo where I stopped on my way home, near the fish ladder. I love that my bikes seems to be bathed in heavenly light!

I've used chamois cream to protect my face when it's really cold and/or windy

I managed to lose two brand new chapsticks this week. I don't know where they go. I seriously left the house with one in each coat pocket this afternoon, and had lost one of them two hours into the trip.

I'll have to keep that in mind though. I know for a fact that normal lotion doesn't quite do the trick!

My lip balms seem to grow legs as well. Luckily my local women's ride gets an abundance of lip balm donated from New Belgium (yes the beer maker) and North Face. I don't use chamois cream but should remember that because DH does so we have chamois butt'r around often.
