I forgot to post my weight, but it hasn't changed any. Again. 135.2

Going to enter a "slim it to win it" challenge at my new gym. It is a multiple team competition to see which group loses the most body fat in an 8 week period. This starts, and ends, with a Bodpod evaluation, and there are two weekly group training sessions. I am thinking this should mix things up just enough to get my body's attention and also get accustomed to the new gym.

    Thanks, Possegal!

I am not optimistic about this week's weigh-in. Between Valentine's day dinner out and a few extra treats around the house this week, I am feeling bloated and chunky. I will try to be good tomorrow, but so far I've been up from last week's weigh-in all week.

Next week we'll be traveling and unable to run (will be on a sailboat!) or ride bikes, so it could be scary. But we'll be having a lot of fun, I think, so I am not going to sweat it too much.

This challenge is making me too competitive. DH has been riding to work a couple of days a week, to help his weight loss quest. I can't ride to work, and although I've been exercising like crazy, it's making me nuts. There have been several positive changes in my eating habits (like more veggies) and I've kind of lost my taste for some things that I know keep the pounds on me. But, once I see my good # on Friday, I loosen up a little, mostly because we go out on the weekend. I enjoy myself. Then, I end up spending the whole week trying to get back down to the # I was at on the previous Friday. It's probably not going to happen tomorrow, as I gained a pound yesterday.
I know you all are going to say "so what?" but I think this is the same reason why I don't compete in athletics. I get extremely focused on comparing myself with others, and then I get stressed, and it ends up being a negative. I have a considerable amount of self discipline, which I think makes all of this worse.
I didn't need to lose as much as DH, just wanted to reset my set point... I kind of feel the same way as when he rides faster than me! I know I shouldn't compare, but this (eating healthy) is one thing that I've always been "better" at than him. This is all distorted thinking, but it still bugs me.

I've been lurking on this thread . . . knowing I should probably be throwing my hat back in the ring. Coming March/April challenge, I'm going to be all-in.

I have been arguing with the scale for several months now on the proper placement of the number "4". IMO, It should not follow a "1". Today, I saw a 3!! According to my Weight Watchers log, the last time I won this argument was June 1st 2011. Progress is slooooow, but its better than no progress at all.

Congratulations!! It's nice when the hard work finally pays off, right?

I'm looking forward to the day when I get to see that same 3. But in my case, the last time I saw it, the year started with a '1'. (OK, not quite...but close!!)

You will. I have no doubt.

I'm looking forward to having the same debate with the number 2 in a few months. Haven't seen that since Feb 2010!

    Nice!

For Valentine's Day, I made homemade peanut butter cups for the staff, and set one aside in the cupboard for myself. It disappeared. When I asked Jeff if he ate it, he said yes and protested that it wasn't labeled so he ate it. Harrumph. I was disappointed but figured it was probably for the best anyway, since I really don't need the calories. Well....he felt bad and when I got home last night, I discovered that he gone to the store, bought some very nice chocolate and made FIVE more. I ate one. He's eaten 2. There are two left. I should freeze them or something, before they call my name again. I can hear them alllllll the way from here (Susan, eat me!!! Suuuuuusaaaaaan....!)

Susan, one year I ordered a bouquet of chocolate chip cookies for DH on Valentine's Day and had them delivered to his work. I can still see myself and my 18 month old son sitting on the couch waiting for dad to come home with the cookies for us to eat.
He had eaten 2 or 3 and "given the rest to everyone to eat."
We joke about it now, but I was not amused.

That was really sweet of Jeff. Freeze them now if you haven't already; they can be a special treat for later.

I love peanut butter and chocolate together.

    Mr. Crankin 148.0

I've reached my goal; now the task is how to maintain. That is going to be even harder for me than losing 5 pounds. The challenge ends when I am going to be on vacation in Vermont, so I will be focusing on maintaining and reporting my end weight a couple of days early.
Long weekend coming up and lots of social plans; my professional consultation group, dinner out with friends, dinner out with son and DIL, plus Monday, something out of the normal routine. If I can handle this wisely, I will know this challenge was a positive thing!
