    Fitness-Friendly Cell Phone Cases

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I got a new iPhone 4s for Christmas (woot!) and have a Tune Belt for running in the cold, but come warmer weather I will probably opt for an armband of some sort. Using iTunes while running is really tricky with the Tune Belt. I've seen favorable reviews for Armpockets, but they are really bulky looking. Any other recommendations? I'd want something that would give some water/sweat protection and fit my phone with a slim case.

The other thing I'd love are reviews of those waterproof bag thingies. I'd use one of those when I take my bike on a ride. A friend of mine has one, but hers seems really oversized and I'd love to find something a bit less massive. I'd use a ziplock bag, but I've had enough of those leak that I'd rather spend a bit more on something that is better suited to protect my $$ device.

an otterbox defender is the ultimate case for an active person's phone.

I use a DryPak on my phone when I watch movies/tv shows or read (with the kindle app) in the tub. I do bring it along on my rides when there's a chance of rain.

Ok, I should have specified...non-Otterbox cases -- I don't know how I could run with one unless I carry it in a fairly large belt-case, which would make using iTunes pretty impossible without removing the phone from the case every time I want to skip a song or adjust volume. If cycling were my only activity that's definitely the route I would go.

I use a Jersey Bin when I ride. It's basically a superstrong Ziploc bag. .

I really like the look of those--plus they can have custom graphics applied. I'm one of the organizers for ODRAM (One Day Ride Across MI). We've been looking for logo items. I'm going to share that link with the rest of the organizer staff.

Becky, thanks so much for that recommendation, again. I tossed the suggestion out to the rest of the ODRAM organizers and they are totally on-board with doing something...even having one of our sponsors pay for them (to include their logo and the ODRAM site address) with enough extra to go towards the benefitting charity (JDRF). Sure beats another crappy water bottle!

This is what I use. Be forewarned, it's not water-proof, but I love the slim profile. I keep the case on my phone and just slide the armband in every time I run. It's very simple to do.

I love how simple that looks, but I've been caught in so many deluges that I'd be afraid to risk that.

DH pretty much insisted if he was getting me the Iphone I was getting an Otterbox. We compromised on the Commuter line which isn't terribly bulky but it is bulkier than just a snap on case. He was probably right I need the Otterbox.....

I didn't think about how to carry it running and I do love having Itunes!

The thing with the Otterboxes...according to their own site they are not waterproof. I'm more worried about sweat and rain damage to my phone than I am impact protection (I have a screen protector and a case that's a layer of silicone inside a layer of firm plastic).
