Nick- I wish I could keep my little Heidi's beard so white! My groomers use whitening shampoo but they can't get hers white anymore, they said part of it is age (she's 10) and they think some is she is missing many of her teeth. Your kiddos look so pretty!

Reesha- How could you resist those eyes? Walter is so lucky to have picked you, I bet he won't be timid once he knows he is safe.

I think he can tell already! We have to roll up a thick shag carpet because Walter thought it was a good grassy spot to take a leak! LOL I don't blame him... it's like 2" thick.

Today we are going out to get all the fixings... leash, collar, harness, crate etc.

One of his funny quirks is that he always faces the door, wherever he is. When we were in the introduction room at the Humane Society, he spent most of the time standing right next to the door facing it. It's very endearing. We took him out to go to the bathroom and he didn't seem as nervous as they indicated he would be. He didn't rear for instance. Just trotted along. Maybe it was the shelter environment with all the other dogs... they seemed to think he got picked on by bigger dogs!

Anyway, we have renamed him "Turtle" because he's such a shy boy

Hi Amanda, they do miraculously stay white even though they are both active and outdoorsy, loving walks and rides in the car. I don't use any harsh chemicals on their coat or skin (Sylphide has serious allergies). Instead I use my own organic shampoo and conditioner (Giovanni). I take that in to the groomer every time they are shorn down, and only use organic hair products for the "in between" baths. Could it be diet, as well? Mine have an organic, holistic, human-grade diet, and are on the nutritional supplement "Angel Eyes". This keeps their eyes clear. But the reason I use it, at the vet's recommendation, is to control Sylphide's allergies. It has the added advantage of keeping their little faces white.

    Walter is adorable!

Winding Road went with me today to a local rescue shelter where I proceeded to fall in love with a pair of female Cockatiels The parakeets were beautiful as well, but the 'tiels seemed to have more personality. The blue 'keets were beautiful!

They also had several Chinchillas (not for me), lots of bunnies (unsure about that option) but I really liked the birds. They also had some beautiful Love Birds, but their voices were much, much too loud for my apartment and they told us that they were the most obnoxious of all of the parrots they had.

I may take a bonded male/female Cokatiel pair, but as I am not interested in breeding I don't know how good an idea that is. I need to wait a month or two before I do this, so I've time to consider.

They also had the most adorable and cuddly Tortie kitty that lived with the birds and bunnies, she snuggled so nicely, I wish I could have her...

Reesha, Walter or Turtle is VERY handsome! What a lucky boy he is!!

This is our 'Christmas' adoption. This is Sara. She is a Giant Schnoodle and should be about 60-70 lbs when full grown. She already eats more than the big dogs right now and is growing like a damn blackberry in Oregon! She's very smart and alternates between being super sweet to being a little Tasmanian devil about 10 times per day.

This is her at 7 weeks (this is pretty much what she looked like when she arrived from Montana at 8 weeks old):

This is her yesterday, at almost 11 weeks:

(sorry about the lousy photo quality - I need to take some good ones of her!)

Sara is so cute, but look at the size of those paws!

I miss having a dog. Sigh.
