Ditto what the others have said - if you feel generally ok, then go ahead. Sometimes with UTIs I feel run down and a little nauseated, and other times I feel ok (except for the UTI pain itself.)

Last time I had a UTI I did a 200 mile ride right after starting the antibiotics. I took extra precautions because the antibiotic I was on said it would make me sun sensitive (and this was September in the Bay Area - hot and sunny.) I was practically white from sunscreen but made it through no problem - and no burns.

The antibiotic also said it might affect balance but I didn't really notice being any more unbalanced than usual.

I seem to recall that Cipro is one that can greatly increase risk of damage to the achilles tendon in runners. I think there are a few others that can increase risk of tendon/muscle injuries, as well. Probably not a bad idea to look at the contraindications for your specific med online.

    lol!
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.

Cipro is what I'm taking and I did read it could cause tendon problems. I'm like you Soprano - I am so used to working out that I feel worse not doing it. I am feeling a little run down today so I will probably lay off today and see how I feel tomorrow. I'm pretty neurotic about missing my workouts as you can tell!

I just had a UTI last week. Unfortunately, it did start to affect my kidneys because I didn't recognize the symptoms early on. Within hours of taking the antibiotics, I started to feel better. I only took off one day of cycling. It never dawned on me to ask my doctor about exercising. I only took off that one day of cycling because I was in so much pain that sitting on a bike would not have been very comfortable. But like I said, once I started taking the meds, I felt 100%. Good luck...hope you feel better soon.
